How to Rock an Over 50 Travel Wardrobe Part 1

Have you clicked on one of those travel wardrobe sites only to find the clothes are frumpy and not very fashion forward?   Just because we are over 50; doesn't mean we want to look like we just left the gym while vacationing.  We want to look our best but still be comfortable.  Is that possible?  

Are any of you planning a trip this Spring?  Packing, knowing what to take, and more importantly (what not to take) can be a challenge with today's travel.  No one wants to pay extra to drag an extra suitcase on the plane.  The Huffington Post has some great tips on how to pack here.  Eagle Creek is a great resource for travel products ,and they have the best checklist for travel I have found here.  

Now that you know how to pack the question is what to pack?  Travel wardrobes need to be small light and portable.  The days of lugging multiple suitcases are over. Packing needs to be taken seriously.  All pieces need to work together to create multiple outfits.

It is important to have a few pieces that we will call "Key Players". They need to have the ability to be worn several times numerous ways.  Here are some of my favorites.

A few of these pieces I consider "Wardrobe Opportunists".  They can be worn several ways with different pieces.
 #10 This hat from Debra Weitzner is waterproof on one side (black) and the tan side is a sun hat. It is packable and crushable.  How great is that?  I need to buy one of these.
#2 Victorina Boots from Blondo.  I own these.  They come in wide widths and they are waterproof and comfortable!
#14 The Sassy Cowl Jacket by FH Clothing from Artful Home has all of the attributes of a great travel piece, and is the hub of this travel capsule.  It is a mix of rayon, spandex, and nylon; so it is wrinkle free, and holds it shape. It tapers in at the waist and then flairs out at the hip.  It can be worn as is with the cowl un-zipped, or zipped all the way up for extra warmth with a scarf added.  It can be unzipped as an extra layer over the Surplice dress and worn with boots. It can also be worn as shown below with a skirt and or leggings and sneakers for a more casual look.
