Unexpected Objects as Art

There is nothing like a beautiful oil painting, but sometimes the most unexpected objects displayed as art are the most intriguing.

I used a vintage grape gathering basket in a niche that the architect had intended for art as an inexpensive temporary fix, but it has now grown on me and I think I will probably leave it!

I love the idea of using textile remnants as art.  Phoebe Howard has used Kuba cloth in the two photos below.  I am thinking about doing this in my guest bedroom.  I love the look.

If you have a group of interesting plates you would like to display.  Here are some great options.

Have you repurposed any found objects and used them as art in your own home?  If so I would love to hear about it!

  4. Great ideas here Cindy! I love what you did with the basket - that's stunning. And those oars - they look great! Thank you so much for your kind comments on my blog too - they mean a lot to me, especially coming from someone as talented as you. :)

  5. Hi Cindy! Couldn't agree more! Love your gathering basket in the niche instead of the expected art!
