I have always been curious about the origin of this magazine’s title. I had assumed it had been around for decades but had recently reinvented itself. It turns out it is a relatively new (2007) and is more about the southerners and their lifestyle than it’s claim of representing the “adventure-bound, art-loving, skeet-shooting lifestyle” of the south.
Much like Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles it showcases some of the most beautiful homes in the South while managing to uncover some of the lesser known designers . In addition many of the photographs are taken by the fabulous Emily Followell.

I am smitten with the magazine in spite of it’s title how about you? I apologize for my lack of posts. I am super busy with my Tahoe project. I hope to do a post on that soon!

No worries Cindy dear, can't wait to see that Tahoe project! The title of the magazine kinda turns me off too but seeing the pictures and features makes me want to take a look! The south has such rich and beautiful sense of culture and I love how it is showcased here in these pics with elegance and style!
ReplyDeleteThe title is misleading. The photos are amazing! I'm jumping over to subscribe. Thanks for the great new content!

The title does seem somewhat misleading! Stunning pics. x Sharon
ReplyDeleteIn the South, we hunt, we cook, we eat, we love to entertain and monogram everything! We use guns for sports not for killing people! Bless your heart.
ReplyDeleteNever knew about this! Love the vignettes, especially the 7th image- wow! xo Nancy
ReplyDeleteGosh, being from the South, I never really thought about the magazine's name. Too funny! I have always enjoyed Garden and Gun. I find their "Secret Society" meals at Blackberry Farm beautiful. If you are not familiar with it, you might want to also check out The Local Palate magazine that features the food culture of the South. I believe it is based in Charleston, SC. http://www.localpalatemag.com/ It's a beauty too.
ReplyDeleteThe Belk Farmhouse that some of your images are from is one of my all-time favorite homes. So gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWe stayed in our friend's guest in Tampa and he handed me a copy of this magazine. He's an architect and he said "you'll like it." I loved it!
ReplyDeleteI've seen so many images I love from this magazine I can't even tell you. You've added a few more that I've never seen. I've meant to subscribe a few times and have never gotten around to it so maybe I'll go do it right now.
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy, I just have to get my hands on this magazine, I could while away an afternoon with a coffee and a copy easily!
ReplyDeleteG&G is one of my favorites! It's refreshing to see these eclectic Southern homes - cool and stylish yet still relatable and familiar. Hope you can share photos of your Tahoe project soon!
ReplyDeleteG&G is one of my favorites as well ... One of the few subscriptions I still take! I guess since I grew up in the South, the title doesn't bother me! I actually think it is brilliantly different!
ReplyDeleteWe are Southerners who can hardly wait to get each issue of G&G - it's definitely a favorite!! Can't wait to see your Tahoe project...know it will be beautiful!!
