Oh boy here we go! Of course I need “ my partner in crime” to handle the heavy work (or should I say the real work). My husband got the great idea to “hand scrape” our floors which is a back breaking excercise. So the floors are stained the same color as we (I mean Steve) stained the floors in the other guest bedroom here http://roughluxeperspective.blogspot.com/2013/07/guest-bedroom-update.html
The walls are painted Benjamin Moore Manchester Tan at 50%
The trim does not need to be painted fortunately it is still in good shape having been painted a few years back.
I can’t really do an inspiration board because I am using primarily things I have. Here are a few things I will be incorporating to give you a general feel for the room.
, I am planning to use a this old pier one wicker chair that resided in my daughter’s room (boy does this room need an update as well) in lieu of the chair above. Remember I am shopping my own house! I haven’t decided if I am going to paint it black or a muddy brown (any suggestions are welcome!)
I have another wicker chair that is similar from Palecek (currently green) that I will paint in the same color and use on either side of an 18th chest. I am going to have the cushions made up in the same flax linen that the curtains will be constructed of. That’s about it for this week!
If this is your first visit the One Room Challenge, is organized by Linda at Calling It Home, where 20 bloggers made up of Professional Designers, Interior Design aficionados, and Diy'ers share the transformation of a room from start to finish. Over the course of six Wednesday's we write about our progress. Stop by Linda’s blog to see what everyone else is is up to!
that's a lot of work! Love the color you chose Cindy!!!!
ReplyDeleteCindy, you have awesome pieces so of course it's gonna be fabulous! I say black :) Brown would be rich and beautiful too. But I always love black wicker.

ReplyDeleteVery pretty inspiration, Cindy! I vote for black on your wicker chair! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your ideas for your guest room, and think the BM Manchester Tan is a beautiful color. I may sound stupid, but please explain what you mean by using the color at 50%? Is that half the color recipe added to the base? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI vote black for the wicker too. Love your wall colour! xx
ReplyDeleteCindy, I think the sample board is looking great...love the cream cowhide rug....I need my partner in crime too...waiting for him to move the bed and get in some things I'm shopping from the carriage house..I am loving Loi's idea of Chocolate brown for the wicker, and the wall colour is super...N.xo
ReplyDeleteYou have some really great pieces to use in your space! And your husband's a keeper - not only did he do the work on the floors but he's the one who suggested it? Lucky girl!

ReplyDeletelooking great i love the idea of painting the wicker chairs the same - how about that grey muddy wash like the one in the inspiration photo? I love that! like paint it a taupe or greige and then put a very light white wash on it?

I really want to see those floors. The chair is perfect and I like Loi's advice about black. Great progress.
ReplyDeleteLove your vision! I can't wait to see it all come together.
ReplyDeleteI think black would be easier to do and any furniture painted in black can go anywhere! Good luck dear!
ReplyDeleteLove where the room is going and if I had to choose it would be a black ...I think it helps bring in the other guest room .....which is stunning!
