In Living Color - Designer Anna Spiro

Brisbane based Anna Spiro of Black and Spiro is no stranger to color or pattern.  She is not afraid to layer multiple colors and patterns with antiques and modern art. Her attention to detail and love of the unique and unusual combine for a look that appears haphazard; but is actually carefully curated. Doesn't she look as chic as her interiors?

Here is a peek at some of her wonderful designs.

Anna has recently written her first book Absolutely Beautiful Things which you can buy here.

In Absolutely Beautiful Things,  Anna shows you how to “create an interior that's just right for you”. “To her, it's all about the mix, not the match.”She'll give you the confidence to put together a layered and very individual home using elements you love, and make you see your old belongings in a new light”.

In addition to her book, Anna pens the much-loved blog Absolutely Beautiful Things.  She has just come out with a new textile line to add to her already popular wallpaper designs.

If you would like more information where you can find them got to Anna’s website here.  You can also view more of her lovely portfolio here.

I really admire Anna’s gutsiness with color and pattern.  How do you feel about it?  Are you a bold color and pattern person or do you prefer a more neutral pallet with pops of color?

Next Thursday we will be having another edition of our Ageless Style series.  Elizabeth from the Vintage Contessa will interview someone on her blog.  I will be interviewing my new friend, image consultant Brenda Kinsel, whose sense of style I adore.

  2. When I saw that book in our public library, I checked it out immediately. I've never been one to shy away from color and her book was totally inspiring.

    1. I am so glad you love her. In my "older age" I have become more neutral in my own home but I sure love her bold style!!

  3. I appreciate all the pattern and color but it's not something I could live with. Too busy, hard for the eye to rest anywhere, reminds me why I like more neutral rooms.

  4. I love her home. She has a wonderful talent for creating a room that looks collected and designed over time, not the formula style, so refreshing and inviting. Thank you, Cindy, you always introduce us to the best.

  11. I don't know which I prefer. The way Anna dresses or the way she designs. Both are so fresh and young. Love seeing them both. Great choice Cindy.

  12. I am a color-pattern kind of girl, so I have enjoyed Anna's look for years. In this world, and I mean whole-wide world caused by the world-wide web, I especially appreciate those who resist the white-out of color and pattern.

  13. Hi! I am a new follower as well. My friend Penny from Lake Lure Cottage Kitchen told me about you today while we were having lunch. I am also a long time follower and grew up on Hiland Lake in Hell, Michigan. Currently my husband and I are building our dream house in the mountains of North Carolina.

I enjoyed this post and I am off to read some back posts. Come visit my blog if you have time. I blog about decorating, gardening, cooking, dining and local attractions. Oh and my name is Penny, just like my friend :-)
