Farmers Union Pour House Coming Soon to Oldtown Salinas

Now that "the cat is out of the bag" I can post about a project we have been working on for some time. My son and daughter in law are craft beer and wine afficionados.  Their dream has been to open their "own shop" so to speak.  With the encouragement and support of the owner of the building, their dream is becoming a reality.  The space is really fabulous. The building was built in 1895 and was originally known at that time as Farmer's Union. Colin and Lauren and the owner wanted to keep the integrity and history of the space and build on that.  They enlisted their trusty mom to help with the interiors.  Nothing I love more than a space with history and provenance.  We all agreed to respect the integrity of the space yet make it stylish and hip . Think bespoke/industrial with a little bohemian sprinkled in.  Imagine a fusion of rustic wood and metals, and rustic reclaimed wood accented with vintage and antique pieces.

If you follow me on instagram you saw this last week.  The floors will be the original wood, and the walls the original brick.

We have a lot of old doors in the warehouse so I thought why not use them here.  The tables are similar to these but Colin made them using gas piping and reclaimed wood.  The ceilings are high and  the space looms large.

The bar counters will be steel.  The stools are reclaimed wood and steel.  The pendant lights are from World Market.  They took a little tweaking.  I will show you a DIY on that coming up soon.

Colin built the large tables out of reclaimed flooring (from the warehouse).  The banquettes will be out of a performance ticking fabric.

We are excited they chose old town and think this will be a great place to grab a glass of wine or a craft beer before or after dinner.  I will post progress reports on Instagram and here. I hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek.  Follow Farmers Union Pour House on Facebook here and on instagram @FARMERSUNIONPOURHOUSE and tell your friends as well!
