Cheap Chic Pendant Lights

Well those of you who read my blog regularly know we are working on another  “flipper”.  Consequently I am  on the search for inexpensive style.  Once again I am amazed that with a “fair amount of digging” there are some great finds out there.  In our last redo we used mostly polished, chrome, and stainless.  For this project I am going to use some “oil rubbed bronze”.  I know what you are thinking…dated…Come along and I think you will see the method to my madness ( or not.)  I know you will tell me if you hate them. That is what I love about you guys!!

  1. My two picks would be the Kenroy Retro Mini Pendant or the Home Decorator's one. Not only do they have the best price point but they conceal more bulb. The Edison bulbs look great but the light must be quite harsh having the bulb exposed.

Is bronze out? I think it can be a really nice detail in an all-white/neutral interior although I would never do bronze faucets.

    1. I agree about the faucets Steve! Have you seen the Kenroy in person? I have not but am leaning in that direction!

  2. I like two from Home Depot; the glass funnel and the Home Decorator extended opal pendant. Very cheap and chic indeed.

  3. I like the stratus, the glass funnel, the basket and the driftwood ones. I still love dark bronze...not in a Tuscan way, in a high contrast modern rustic way. Like Kara Rosenlund's stuff (though I don't go quite that rustic, just touches of it). It goes with with rusty garden elements brought inside the house as well, which I like, in small doses. Dark elements on a backdrop of cream, white, light neutrals. Bronze is just a brown-black, it's just a color I think it's a little silly when people say a color or finish or some basic element is "out"....it's all how you put things together, isn't it?

  4. Because I love texture and natural elements in interiors I am drawn to both the basket pendant and twig example....And the opal lantern pendant...I am not a big fan of the industrial look so popular right now...I don't think it offers much longevity...I used oiled bronze hardware on the white kitchen cabinetry in our current renovation, but mixed it up with brass ceiling fixtures and door hardware...I am really pleased with the look..I know you will get it right, Cindy! 6. I do love industrial or "retro" lights in kitchen, the only thing I don't really like is when the bulb is sticking out of the shade, don't want to see bulbs, of course that's personal...
Like the lamp design and shades in 5. and 6. image, and I quite find the 'Nature's Twig Pendant Light', last image, very attractive, something I have not seen before! Can see this in a contemporary/modern high-tec kitchen, just as a charming, slightly country-side contrast.
What's "in" or "out"? I never go with a trend, and never did. Interior just has to fit together, suitable for the house, and has to be for me just THAT little bit special which does not always cost the earth.
Looking very much forward to see this house done!!!

  7. The industrial metal doesn't appeal to me. Though it might have a different beauty in actual. What impressed me most is the glass funnel pendant.
