I started this post about a couple weeks ago before the Sandy Hook Tragedy. I can’t stop thinking about the “little angels” that so senselessly lost their lives and of those who witnessed the carnage of their classmates and mentors. I remember when my children were that age (they are now 29 & 32). They were so full of wonder and trust. Christmas for them was such a magical time.
Those 20 little angels who will never again see the snow covered garden…
…the deer in the woods
…or the lights of Christmas
Their tutus will hang in their closets….
…their toe shoes untouched….
In the weeks ahead we will try and comprehend what happened, and why. What do events like this tell us about human nature, and what can we do in the future to encourage the good in all of us.

I know, I know. I really don't think any of us will forget this tragic event, ever.

ReplyDeleteCynthia, Its hard to make sense of the whole thing....I feel so sorry for all the family's involved including the shooters. It sounds like they were trying to get him committed, but sometimes the court lags....So so sad.......you wonder where we are going as a country! I have been praying for the family's that lost little ones....My heart.... just.....so sad!
ReplyDeleteLove the Conservatory.
ReplyDeleteNeed a good full day of gardening. When, when, when?
Those are the days I frame a sentence to G*d let it go, yet when I'm done there are answers. Framing the sentence about the children, their families............ I cannot even do that yet. No words.
Garden & Be Well, XO T
It's so sad and unimaginable. Thanks for this tribute, Cindy.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Loi
What a beautiful tribute to an unthinkable tragedy...
ReplyDeleteThe majority of us cannot comprehend the "why" of such a horrific tradegy. I truly believe in the goodness of mankind. I also do not believe we can do anything to prevent this kind of horror. There will always be a small minority of humans that cannot cope with realities of life and, therefore, no one can predict or prevent what will happen. As a Christian, I pray for those precious lives that were lost that day, their families who much somehow cope each day with their loss, and the unfortunate person who perputrated with incomprehensible act and his remaining family. What a horror it must be for them also. "Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temtation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and power, and the glory forever and ever. Amen"
ReplyDeleteMost of us cannot comprehend the horror of that day. It is not in the realm of my intellectual capacity. It is beyond the pale. Unfortunately, I do not believe there is anything that can be done to prevent occurrances such as this in the future. All of the laws we make cannot control the depravity of others. As a Christian I pray for the families of all those precious angels that were killed that day and their families. I cannot fathom their grief nor how they will get through each coming day. And I also pray for the misguided boy and his remaining family. How they must feel about the horror and lose also. Only by the grace of God. "Our Father, who art in heaven. Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses and we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and power, and the glory forever and ever. Amen and amen"
