I reintroduced red (via antique paisley pillows) last year into my family room. So I thought this year I would pull out my plaid ribbon, some of my long lost but much favored ornaments, add pomegranates (which I normally pick green from my trees) and go traditional. For some reason I just couldn’t. I love it in other’s homes. So I began with my mercury glass ornaments that are all in bronzy tones. I added some other favorites (being careful to select ones that aren’t edible). If you read my blog regularly you know about Beau. Last year we had a tabletop tree at the lake. Apparently Beau (now two) still thinks anything stuffed is still fair game.
My tree is not a “designer tree”. I still enjoy the tradition of using the ornaments that I have collected locally from artisans, made by my children, and those gathered from my travels. How about you? Do you do a different tree every year or is it decorated with ornaments that hold special meaning to you?
The mantle is decorated with fresh pine, faux berries, pine cones, lemons, pears and twigs

Lovely photos! I have lots of special ornaments that I take out every year, and I also buy one or two new ones to go with them:)

The best trees, in my humble opinion, are the ones full of decorations collected over time, each with their own memory attached. They are so much more meaningful than the designer, colour co-ordinated ones. I love your tree! x Sharon
ReplyDeleteCindy...your tree is beautiful! If I didn't have a blog I probably would do the same old thing but, tweak it a little. Now that I have a blog....the pressure is on...to change!
ReplyDeleteI just about melted when I saw your first photo of Beau! He looks so much like Millie!!!!

ReplyDeleteHello Cindy,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous and festive decor. You have a way of adding such luxury and comfort to your designs. Your home looks like the perfect place to celebrate a very merry Christmas!
We will be in London and Paris for the holidays this year so I'm a little slow on my decorating~more focused on travel plans. You are inspiring me to get on it!
Cheers, Heather
Perfectly rough luxe! Love the earth tones of your tree. I use the same ornaments each year, since all of them have been individually collected over time, and add one new one from my Christmas visit to Rogers Gardens every year. This year it's a little toucan...I have a bird theme!
ReplyDeleteYour house is amazing, Cindy. I love every detail. You are so talented. XO, Mona
