Kitchens Outside of the Box, Last Day to register for the Giveaway!

What causes  a kitchen to be “outside of the box”? To me it is neither contemporary or traditional  but rather the use of the unexpected.  Some of the images below combine traditional elements with contemporary surfaces.  Some use unconventional lighting, recycled materials or unconventional combinations.

No “outside of the box” post could be complete without something from Erin Martin.  Look at all the interesting finishes and surfaces she has used in this kitchen.

  1. This is a tough one Cindy because I think you have collected the best of the best.

For a house in Maine...I would pick Meg Ryan's kitchen. For a travelling home...I would choose Moroccan inspiration from Houzz...

I would snap any one of those chandeliers...the more creative the better. I saw some today that I think you would adore. I will try and sneak a pic next time I am in the shop.

    Happy Creating Cindy!!

  2. It also involves engaging an adventuresome client...I love, love every space here, because I can't think any way but out of the box. Unfortunately most clients want to play it too safe...if they would just trust more along the way...they would love it in the end. Great post. Mona
